The Week 9 MNF game between the Los Angeles Chargers and New York Jets is featuring the worst pass defense in the NFL (LA) and one of the better teams at stopping the pass (New York). Not surprisingly, there’s been plenty of talk about wide receivers on both clubs. Unfortunately, much of that speculation is surrounding who at the position won’t, or might not be playing in this game in the Chargers vs Jets injury reports.
The Chargers were already without veteran Mike Williams following knee surgery. Now, WR Joshua Palmer has gone on IR, also with a knee issue.
For the Jets, veteran wideout Allen Lazard suffered a late-week knee injury. However, the latest word is to expect him to be in the lineup.
LA is a 3.5-point road favorite in the Chargers vs Jets odds. Kickoff for this game is set for 8:15pm ET at US Bank Stadium. The broadcast is being carried by ABC/ESPN and by DAZN in Canada.
At the moment in the Charger vs Jets public betting splits, New York is getting the majority of ATS handle (55% as 3.5-point home under), while LA is drawing the better of the moneyline bet action (82% as the -183 away chalk).

Two of LA’s starting LB are also questionable to play. LILB Eric Kendricks (ribs) and RILB Kenneth Murray Jr (shoulder). #Jets WR Allen Lazard (questionable, knee) is expected to play tonight vs. #Chargers, per sources. Barring surprise, Zach Wilson should have the reliable veteran in the passing game.

Center is another position in need of attention for the Jets. Both starter Wes Schweitzer (calf) and backup Connor McGovern (kneecap) were injured last week against the Giants and placed on IR.
Reserve DT Al Woods (Achilles) was also added to the IR list this week. Reserve LB Chazz Surratt (ankle) is also out. Backup FS Adrian Amos (ankle) is questionable.

How Could Injuries Affect Chargers vs Jets Betting Lines?
Lazard is an important piece of the Jets offensive scheme, so having him out there is vital to the Chargers vs Jets picks. He’s second on the team with 29 targets and leads the club with an average of 15.0 yards per catch.
Fortunately for the Jets, center Joe Tippmann (quad) is ready to be activated from IR in time to step into the vacancy in the middle of their offensive line. He’s been a full participant in practice this week.
The Jets had hoped to be able to activate tackle Duane Brown (shoulder/hip) from IR for this game, but he’ll be out at least another week.
If you’re looking for plays in the Chargers vs Jets player props, receiving overs on LA WR1 Keenan Allen and RB Austin Ekeler are worth consideration. They p to see plenty of the football minus Williams and Palmer. The Jets have allowed three WRs to go for 100 yards already this season.
