Inter Miami are close to signing Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez on a one-year deal. The move to Florida will see the 36-year-old join former Barcelona team-mates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba at the MLS club for the 2024 campaign.
Suárez has been plying his trade with Brazilian club Gremio but is now set to land in the US to work under Argentine head coach Tata Martino.
Leaving Gremio
With Gremio, the former Liverpool marksman netted 24 goals and registered 17 assists in 52 games. “We are going to miss him, for sure. He was loved by everyone. He’s leaving,” said Gremio head coach Renato Gaúcho last weekend.
The Uruguay international scored the only goal in Gremio’s win against Vasco da Gama on Sunday and ended up doing a lap of honour around the stadium as the club’s supporters bid farewell to one of South America’s finest ever goalscorers.
